What you need to drive in the TRNC
 
You must ensure that your vehicle meets with the required TRNC laws before driving on the roads.
 
  1. You must have a current valid driving license whçh allows you to drive in this country.
  2. Compulsory Motor vehicle Third Party Insurance
  3. Current MOT Test Certificate
  4. Current Motor Vehicle Road Tax 
You will also need to make sure you have the following in an emergency breakdown situation :
 
  1. Compulsory Two warning triangles
  2. Compulsory Emergency first aid kit
  3. Compulsory ABC Dry Powder Extinguisher
  4. Compulsory Spare Tyre & Jack
  5. Jump cables
  6. Multitool and Disposable Gloves 
What to do in an Accicent Situation:
 
Should you be involved in an accident, you must immediately get yourself and any passengers out of the car and in a safe place. DO NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE.
 
If anyone is injured do not move them call an Ambulance on 112
 
If there is a fire please call the Fire Brigade on 199
 
You must call the Police immediately on 155, who will  attend the scene of the accident and deal with traffic flow.
 
They will assess the accident and coordinate the report with the Insurance companies involved. 
 
You will need to contact the 24 Hour Zirve Emergency number to report the accident on 0548 824 0724
 
The Zirve number is not always supported by English speaking staff, therefore please contact us on 0533 844 0019 or 0533 833 0841 (Daytime working hours) and we can coordinate this service for you as necessary.
 
Once the police have advised the outcome of their investigations, if your car is drivable please come directly to the Azant office.  We can take photographs of the damage and where applicable, coordinate with the affiliated Zirve garage local to your area of residence and get your vehicle assessed and booked in for repair.
 
Do NOT get any repairs completed without the prior consent of your Insurance company.
 
If the car is not drivable the police will coordinate the towing where the car will be taken to an affiliated garage.
 
Comprehensive Cover:
 
Where you have comprehensive cover and you inadvertantly reverse into a wall/post or someone damages your car in a car park etc.  You must still follow the same procedure and contact the police and Zirve immediately.
 
In all cases you must be aware that in the event the police and the Zirve 24 Hour accident service are not called and there are no supporting reports, the insurers are not responsible for damages sustained.

What to Do in the Event of Damage to your Vehicle whilst on your own Property

If you damage your vehicle on your own property, e.g. reverse into a wall or scrape against the wall. You must absolutely call the number on your policy - 0548 824 0724 which is a Turkish and English speaking service.This 24/7 service will advise you what to do and give you advice. You should note that if you have an accident involving another immediate family vehicle then this may not be covered and is at the discretion of the Insurance company. The olice should always be called. 

Please be aware that the police have the authority to take a breathalyser test at any time, failing a breathalyser test can result in your insurance being invalid, your licence being confiscated, a driving ban and even imprisonment. In an accident situation when you require medical treatment, the hospital also have the authority to take a blood test. Any excess alcohol or illegal substances found in your blood will invalidate your policy. You should be aware that in these situations, your passport can also be taken from you while you await a court hearing.

Also please do remember that vehicles should not be taken to any garage directly and also no repairs should be started unless approved by the Insurance Company.
